Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Eighth Note (“the app”) plays the music already stored on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps the following only on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else:

The app reads the audio files and their information (title, artist, album, cover, length) through Android’s media library, after you allow access to music. It does not copy, upload or change your songs.

What is sent over the internet

The only thing the app asks the network for is song lyrics. When you open the lyrics of a song that has none saved yet, the app sends that song’s title, artist, album and length to the public lyrics service LRCLIB (lrclib.net) and saves the answer on your phone. Nothing else is sent: no name, no device identifier, no account, no listening history, no location. The service receives your IP address as any website does; see LRCLIB’s own terms for how it treats requests.

What we do not do

Permissions

Backup

If you use Android’s backup, only the app’s settings are backed up by Google, under your own Google account and its privacy rules. Playlists and history are not.

Deleting your data

Uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android settings > Apps > Eighth Note, and everything the app saved is removed. In the app’s settings you can also clear your listening history.

Children

The app is a general music player and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
